Terms of Use

These terms govern your access to and use of retrocause.com. By using the Site, you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use the Site.

Last updated:

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of retrocause.com(the “Site”) and any services offered through it, including the Retrocause Fellowship application process (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Site.

1. Who We Are

“Retrocause,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Retrocause, operating retrocause.com. You can reach us at hello@retrocause.com.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract to use the Site or apply to the fellowship. By using the Site, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. The Fellowship Application

The Site allows you to apply to the Retrocause Fellowship. Submitting an application does not guarantee admission. We review each application and respond personally, but we reserve the right to decline any application for any reason, at our sole discretion.

Acceptance into the fellowship is subject to a separate Fellowship Agreement, which we will provide to selected applicants. These Terms do not govern the fellowship program itself — only your use of the Site.

4. Use of the Site

You may use the Site for its intended purpose — learning about Retrocause, reading our content, and applying to the fellowship.

You agree not to:

  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site, our systems, or other users' data
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Site, its servers, or networks
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to harvest content, submissions, or applications in bulk
  • Submit false, misleading, or intentionally deceptive information through the apply form
  • Impersonate any other person or entity
  • Reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell, or exploit any portion of the Site for commercial purposes without our express written consent
  • Use the Site in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair it or interfere with any other user's use of it

5. Intellectual Property

The Site and its content — including text, graphics, logos, images, the LEVERS operating system framework as described on the Site, the Retrocause brand, and all site code — are owned by Retrocause or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may:

  • Read, share, and quote brief excerpts of blog posts and manifesto content with attribution and a link back to the source page
  • Screenshot pages for personal reference or legitimate commentary

You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute substantial portions of the Site's content without written permission
  • Use Retrocause's name, trademarks, or logos without express written consent
  • Remove copyright notices, attribution, or branding from any content

The LEVERS framework is a system authored by Amos Schwartzfarb and published in the book Levers (Wiley). Describing or discussing the framework in your own words is welcomed; reproducing the full framework commercially is not.

6. Your Submissions

When you submit an application or other content to Retrocause through the Site, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that information for the purpose of evaluating your application, communicating with you, and administering any fellowship you may subsequently join.

You represent that the information you submit is truthful, accurate, and your own (or properly authorized by the subject company).

We will not share your application content publicly or with other applicants without your permission.

7. Disclaimers

THE SITE AND ANY INFORMATION, CONTENT, OR SERVICES PROVIDED THROUGH IT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY.

Information on the Site — including blog posts, framework descriptions, and the manifesto — is provided for informational and educational purposes only. It is not professional advice, and following it does not guarantee any specific business outcome. Every business is different, and you are responsible for decisions you make about your own company.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL RETROCAUSE, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL — ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SITE OR ANY INFORMATION PROVIDED THROUGH IT, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, STATUTE, OR OTHER LEGAL THEORY.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SITE IS LIMITED TO ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100.00).

Some jurisdictions don't allow limitations of liability, so some or all of the above may not apply to you.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Retrocause and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claim, liability, loss, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your use of the Site
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another party
  • Any information you submit to us

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, for any reason, without notice. You may stop using the Site at any time.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will survive.

11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New Castle County, Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by updating the “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, by posting notice on the Site or emailing you if we have your email address. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Miscellaneous

  • Entire Agreement. These Terms (together with our Privacy Policy) constitute the entire agreement between you and Retrocause regarding your use of the Site.
  • Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
  • No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision doesn't waive our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not assign your rights under these Terms. We may assign ours freely.
